BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Three people are recovering, including a young child, after an overnight shooting in Baltimore City.
Mike Schuh reports a 10-year-old is in the hospital, and police are searching for his shooter.
A relatively quiet Memorial Day in the city was interrupted when three people were shot in East Baltimore.
“Right around 9:30 we had officers in the area of the 2300 and 2400-block of Hoffman Street when they heard multiple gunshots ring out,” said Donny Moses, Baltimore City Police.
Among those hit was a 10-year-old boy. Two men, 28 and 29, were also shot.
All three victims were rushed to the hospital with bullet wounds to the leg.
Right now, police say it appears the boy was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.
“We’re not quite sure at this point who the targets were. We do believe the 10-year-old was the victim of an accidental shooting,” said Moses.
Just two days earlier, the family of Sean Johnson, 12, marked one year since he was gunned down in Northeast Baltimore in a case of mistaken identity.
This latest incident is just another reminder of the tragic consequences of this type of indiscriminate violence.
All three victims are expected to recover. Right now, police don’t have any suspects or a motive in this case.
Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call Baltimore City Police.
